What is a random message?

For a number of features in ResponsiveVoice you can set up a selection of different messages, and it will play one at random.

Why is it useful?

Repetition often disengages customers – listening to the same message a number of times (for instance for recurrent visits) diminishes the returns you get with using text to speech. To prevent this, all messages whose text you can set can use this feature. Those messages are:

  • Welcome message
  • Inactivity message
  • End-of-page message
  • Exit intent message

How do I turn on the End-of-page message?

If you set up more than one message in any of the above fields, a random one will be chosen. You can add multiple messages by separating them with a pipe character (‘|’) in the text box.

If you wanted to add three messages as options for the welcome message, you’d write the text like this:

Welcome to ResponsiveVoice. Voice enable your website or app in minutes.|Hello, and welcome to ResponsiveVoice

Make sure the feature you want multiple messages in is turned on by checking the box on its left. You can preview your message by clicking on the speaker icon on the right of the textbox.

Awesome! Where can I try this?
